Parent-Teacher Conferences

Ambrit Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, October 23 from 8:20 am-16:40. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about your child’s progress from their classroom teacher and other single subject teachers.

The school will be closed for students on this day. Children should not attend this conference. Later in the school year, your child will celebrate their learning with you in a Student-Led Conference.

Nursery-Kinder-Prep: EC parents do not need to book a time for seeing single subject teachers. These teachers will be available over the course of the day in the atelier. Please just stop in for a chat.

Grades 1-5: If you haven’t done it yet, please click on the Parent-Teacher Conference Sign-Up link to schedule a 20-minute meeting with your child’s classroom teacher.

Grades 6-7: Middle School conferences will take place in the theatre for each class during the times listed below:

6R: 8.30-9:50
7M: 9:50-11.10
6S: 11.10-12:30

Lost and Found

On Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday we will set up a few tables in the atrium with all the pieces of clothes misplaced and found around the school.

Make sure all of your child’s clothing, lunch/snack box, and water bottle are labelled with their first name and last name initial.

Halloween Bake Sale

Ambrit is getting ready for Halloween with various projects and activities for all. On October 24 and 25 we will have our Halloween Bake Sale on October 24 and 25 which will help us raising funds for the orphanages in Haiti – Pane Condiviso organization (http://www.panecondiviso.com/) and La maison des Petits de Diquini (http://www.diquiniorphans.org/).

Ambrit Autumn Barbecue

Last Saturday’s Autumn BBQ was a wonderful day for the Ambrit community. Huge thanks to the many Ambrit families, teachers, and staff who volunteered their time helping around that day and to those who donated to the international buffet, a great success year after year. Congratulations to the Middle School volunteers for a job well done setting up for the day, selling tickets and more, and to the Green Committee, for raising everyone’s awareness about the small actions we all can take to help save our environment.

Makers Faire

Friday, October 18th we took the 6th-grade students to the Maker Faire. We were able to see many different examples of the Maker movement. There were examples of robotics and domotics controlled Arduinos which we will use next year. The students were very enthusiastic about many of the stands and some even went up and asked questions on their own wanting to know how things work. Obviously many students were drawn to Virtual Reality stands and the robots playing soccer, and that was nice to see as well.

Stargate Planetarium

On October 15th, our Grade 3, 4, and 8 students, thanks to Stargate Planetarium, the first traveling planetarium in Italy equipped with the extraordinary 4K technology (ultra HD), took part in a virtual journey through space, during which they learned about constellations, planets, galaxies, and nebulae.

Upcoming Field Trips

Grade 5 Pompeii Trip

As part of their Ancient Civilizations unit, the grade 5 classes will go on a three-night trip to explore Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum and historical sites in Naples. The children will climb Mt. Vesuvius and later visit Herculaneum to see how this port city was impacted by the violent eruption. The children will tour Pompeii to learn about the way of life in this city frozen in time. On the final day of the trip, the students will visit the Museo Nazionale di Napoli and explore the complex history of the underground passageways of Naples. The trips are a great bonding time for children where they learn to be more independent and responsible. The children enjoy spending time with their friends and eating the wonderful food of the region, especially pizza!
